What Can You Do as a Volunteer?

Front of House & Bar

Be the face of The Tower Theatre! As a Front of House volunteer, you’ll:

  • Provide exceptional customer care to our audiences.
  • Assist with seating, ticketing, and ensuring guests have an enjoyable experience.
  • Serve drinks and snacks at the bar, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
  • Assist with ticket sales and event information at the box office.
  • Help keep things running smoothly.

This role is perfect for confident, personable individuals who love working with the public.

Backstage

Bring productions to life! Backstage volunteers are crucial to our success, contributing to:

  • Set Construction: Help build the stunning sets that bring stories to life.
  • Props: Create, source, and manage the props needed for each production.
  • Costume Design and Making: Use your creativity and skills to craft costumes that enhance the magic of our shows.
  • Stage Management: Coordinate backstage operations to ensure performances run smoothly.

Whatever your skills, there’s a role for you to shine behind the scenes.

Admin and Office Support

Play a vital role in keeping the theatre’s operations efficient by assisting with:

  • General administration tasks
  • Organizing schedules and correspondence
  • Supporting event planning and coordination

Chaperones

Support our youngest stars! Volunteer chaperones play a vital role in productions featuring child actors and dancers.

Grounds and Maintenance

Help us keep The Tower Theatre looking its best. Tasks include:

  • Weeding, landscaping, and outdoor beautification.
  • General repairs and maintenance inside the theatre, both backstage and Front of House.

How Much Time Do You Need to Give?

Volunteering is flexible and designed to fit around your schedule.

  • Frequency: Volunteers are asked to contribute at least once a month to maintain skills and familiarity.
  • Rota: We’ll work with your availability to create a schedule. Prefer a regular evening? Just let us know!

For Front of House roles, smart attire is required, with a waistcoat provided. Other roles have task-appropriate dress codes.

Who Can Volunteer?

Anyone aged 16 or older can volunteer at The Tower Theatre. Whether you’re a seasoned theatre enthusiast or a curious beginner, we have opportunities to suit every skill and interest. You must be 18 or over to work behind the bar.

Current Opportunities

We are actively recruiting for:

  • Customer-Facing Roles: Front of House, bar, sweets counter, and box office.
  • Backstage Roles: Technical crew, set construction, props, costumes, stage management, and prompting.
  • Maintenance and Groundskeeping: Help us keep the theatre and its surroundings in top shape.

What Happens Next?

  2. Role Matching: Your details will be passed to the relevant Volunteer Coordinator.
  3. Informal Chat: You’ll be invited to the theatre for a friendly conversation about the role.
  4. Role Flexibility: Not sure about your first choice? No problem—we’ll find something that suits you!
  5. Onboarding: Once everyone’s happy, you’ll officially join the team. (Some roles may require a DBS check.)
