The Foyer

The Foyer is our large waiting area that also doubles up as an impressive event space. It is able to accommodate 300 people standing or 120 seated at tables.

We regularly host parties, wedding receptions, comedy nights, The Tower Jazz Club and, new for 2024, the ‘Small Stage Theatre’.

The Foyer has a well-stocked public bar, The Peter Heselden Bar – named after our late, great, former Theatre Manager, and the bar offers a pre-order interval drinks service for auditorium shows.

Interval drinks can be preordered in person at the bar prior to Curtains Up. When placing a pre-order at the bar you will be notified where to collect your items, which will be left with your order slip. Please be aware that interval drinks may not be supervised and are the responsibility of the customer.

The venue also sells a range of soft drinks, snacks and crisps pre-performance and during the interval. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate are also available.

The bar and sweets counter open an hour before an evening performance. If it’s an auditorium show it closes after the final interval. If the show is in The Foyer the bar closes 20 minutes before the end of the event unless it is a FHODS Small Stage Theatre event in which case the bar will close at the end of the final interval.

There are men’s and women’s toilets in the foyer, as well as an accessible toilet.

We are also stockists of the incredibly tasty Simply Ice Cream.
