WORLD JAZZ LIVE SESSIONS AT THE TOWER – Hosted by Maiuko

Ian Shaw + Catherine Lima & Gabriel Keen Duo

IAN SHAW – ‘Jazz vocalist, internationally acclaimed and twice winner of BBC Jazz Awards Best Vocalist’

Join jazz singer and entertainer Ian Shaw as he presents some of his favorite songs. Expect music drawn from the rich vein of the Great American Songbook through to the cherished contemporary songwriters – Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie and Stevie Wonder – alongside anecdotes from his life on the road and more. There’ll also be a sprinkling of Shaw’s pithy original lyrics that draw on the quirkiness of the human condition – a satirical take on good living, dodgy politics and the perils of yoga at 60.

Ian has been a staple on the British jazz scene for over three decades and is widely regarded as the best male jazz singer it has produced. He tours constantly in this country and internationally, with several of his recorded output being on US labels. Whether solo at the piano, with his trio or as the special guest with orchestras, he remains the consummate entertainer and his recordings and live performances have been recognized by numerous awards.

Ian has been presenting the weekly Ronnie Scott’s Radio Show on Jazz FM for more than ten years now and has recently added podcasting to his repertoire, with “Not Even Music” now in its third series.
“a brilliant vocal chameleon . . . there’s actually more heart in Ian Shaw’s cleverness than in many singers who wear their hearts conspicuously on their sleeves” Telegraph
